We have established an appropriate and comprehensive curriculum with activities that follow the guidelines set out by the Education Bureau for curriculum development. Our curriculum involves the use of the child-centered approach whereby we use games based on the students interests and life experiences. We enable the children to learn through experiences which makes learning enjoyable and helps the learners to make their own decisions, take responsibility for their own learning and enhance their communication skills. Our program is designed to help the learners gain a balanced and all-round development allowing the learners to reach their full potential and develop their unique abilities. The program helps the learners to gain knowledge about morality and spirituality while developing their skills in “morally, academically, physically, socially, aesthetically, and spiritually”. Five teaching philosophies have been set up: “Keen on exploring”, “Courage to face challenge”, “Blissful Learning”, “Confidence to serve others”, and “Keep eyes on Jesus”. Through constructive learning activities, children can interact with others, enhancing their interest in learning. At the same time, based on the truth of the Bible, through Bible stories, sharing and games, we help students to build a good moral character.
Free Play:Our school has play time that we refer to as “learning by playing” which means that the children play freely in the playground. We often pair the children so that they can explore the playground and discover the different objects and materials around them. The children will learn to cooperate with their partner by combining their existing knowledge from prior experiences to gain new knowledge and skills.
Cambridge English courses:Through the internationally recognized Cambridge English courses, young children can gain knowledge about the different learning areas of English. The Cambridge English course will help the learners to increase their vocabulary and skills such as listening, speaking, reading, and writing in a fun and engaging learning environment, help students successfully move from kindergarten to the primary level. The course helps the learners to improve step by step so that they gain all the fundamentals before progressing. We provide a platform called Cambridge Young Readers whereby the children and parents can select a variety of books from the series Cambridge Reading Adventure Books and once they have completed reading the books they will receive a Cambridge Certificate of Achievement to encourage them and motivate them to read more and develop good reading habits.
Gifted-Tour:‘Gifted-Tour’ (G – games, I – interactive, F – fun, T – talent, ED – education) is based on fables and dramatic play and includes a systematic synthetic phonics (SSP) programme. Through diversified learning activities and creative teaching materials, children’s English listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills can be enhanced. Children who complete the course and pass the assignment will receive a certificate issued by The Training Qualification UK (TQUK).”
Orff music teaching method:Our school encourages children to experience various music and movements, and uses body instruments, percussion instruments, allowing them to experience the fun of music.
Language Learning through Storytelling:We implement the “Parents Read First – Children Can Read Along” reading program for k1 and “I Can It Myself” for K2 and K3. The program helps the children to gain confidence when reading on their own, it helps them to develop and interest in reading, and it gives them a sense of achievement when they demonstrate their reading and language skills.
Wizefloor:In addition, we launched an innovative projective and interactive learning model called Wizefloor. The learning model allows children to enhance the development of their gross motor skills and knowledge, it also provides them with a collaborative learning experience.
